New nature protection projects

Somaha Foundation is committed to strengthening local organizations in multi-year partnerships. The Foundation also supports individual projects in the theme nature protection. The following nature protection projects are now being supported:

1) J’aime ma Planète – Eco-Schools thematic kit on biodiversity

The J'aime ma Planète association is committed to the protection of the environment and the transition towards sustainable lifestyles. With the support of Somaha Foundation and other funding partners, J'aime ma Planète is developing an Eco-school's thematic kit on biodiversity. This teaching resource is aimed at anchoring the principles of sustainable development in the classroom and implementing measures to protect biodiversity.

The thematic kit on biodiversity provides an overview of the societal and ecological challenges facing biodiversity, offers awareness-raising materials and suggests hands-on activities to engage Swiss schools in biodiversity protection. Through a whole-school approach and a comprehensive Seven Steps methodology, school communities are empowered to audit their local environment, identify needs for action and propose solutions to promote biodiversity on their schools grounds.

More information about the project can be found on the website of J'aime ma Planète.

2) FUNK – Action days Crack in the Asphalt

The FUNK Association offers practical and creative educational programs on biodiversity. The aim is to raise awareness of the biodiversity crisis and make concrete local measures accessible.

The annual project Action days Crack in the Asphalt focuses on urban biodiversity over the course of a weekend. With audio walks, panel discussions, city walks, workshops, exhibitions and film screenings, local organizations and individuals gain valuable insights into the urban ecosystem. The format is characterized by the fact that it encourages networking between the various actors dealing with the biodiversity crisis. In 2024, the Action days took place in the city of Zürich.

More information about the project can be found on the website of the Action days or of FUNK
