Retrospect of the SOMAHA ROUND

The 4th SOMAHA ROUND focused on the topic of localization. Somaha Foundation presented its updated Localization Model as well as the newly developed Localization Assessment. The presentation demonstrated how localization processes can be systematically analyzed and planned using four dimensions and specific indicators.

Martin Gallard from Terre des hommes Lausanne and Lior Etter from Wasser für Wasser demonstrated through their organizational development how the Localization Model and the Localization Assessment can foster reflection, dialogue, and institutional change processes. It became clear that localization requires long-term partnerships, mutual trust, and space for shared learning.

In the subsequent panel discussion, the opportunities and challenges of localization were discussed in depth. The focus was on the importance of long-term and flexible funding, the institutional anchoring of localization, and the question of how knowledge can be jointly developed between international nongovernmental organizations and local organizations and shared in both directions.

However, the funding partners of the Foundation were at the center of the event. Somaha Foundation thanks its funding partners for their commitment and valuable collaboration, which makes it possible to achieve our shared goals.
